Just a brief few words of thanks to all who were in contact with me in various ways to mark the Silver Jubilee of my ordination – a lockdown jubilee! I am very grateful for all the cards, letters, gifts, phone calls, text messages, Facebook messages and emails that I received. Thanks also to Fr John for his very gracious words spoken at the end of the 9.30am Mass in Blackpool and also at the 10:15am Mass in The Cathedral.
I still cant believe that it is 25 years since I was ordained. How time flies! celebrations have been put on hold but hopefully in the not too distant future, together we will be able to mark the occasion.
Since the restrictions were put in place back in March we have been celebrating Mass in an empty church but we have been joined virtually by many people not just from these parishes but also beyond. We now have “virtual parishes” which don’t have any boundaries. Many of our “virtual parishioners” have also been in touch and I also want to thank them for their good wishes. I can’t see you but to know that you are with us in spirit, in prayer is great to know.
Once again, wherever you are at this time, thanks to all of you and may God bless each and everyone of you and your good families. The next 25 years have just begun!
